Fishing Report from Spotted TailUpcoming Events: Coastal Angler Magazine’s Fishing, Boating, and Outdoors Fall Festival Due to prior commitments and Hurricane Ida’s local weather I only got out one day this week. Friday Maxx and I tied the canoe to the roof of the chariot and headed to the no motor zone. The sign said “Boat launch closed because of shuttle launch, by order of US Coast Guard.” Now what? We went to the power plant. The wind was supposed to be out of the northwest but it was windy and wavy in there. Not good for a canoe. We saw a few black drum. Using a Clouser Minnow Maxx missed one bite. We left before 30 minutes were up. We went to a protected spot on the Indian River, running over a redfish almost immediately. They were chasing minnows against a lee shoreline. We had five bites between us on Clouser Minnows. I stuck one fish briefly and we both missed two strikes. Then it was done. We sat there and talked waiting for the fish to come back for almost an hour. They didn’t, and it was getting late. We packed it up and went home. The weather has been stunning yesterday and today. I’m going out in the jonboat right now. Life is short- GO FISHING! And life is great and I love my work!
